Coffee and nature are connected, it provides CarmoCoffees’ livelihood, and dreams. Now it’s time to return to nature what “she” has always given to us.
During the last months, our team has been continuously engaged in creating and implementing sustainability projects for our company. Our most important goal is to zero our carbon production and we are very happy to announce that we have offset all the carbon we produced during 2021’ year.
Proceeding with our carbon reduction commitment, our photovoltaic plant started to work this month. It is located in our warehouse area in Três Corações. The project took about three months to complete, from installing the structures to starting to work.
We are carrying out the Reforestation of preservation areas, with the planting of three thousand tree seedlings. The project is a partnership with EISA and Nespresso.
Unfortunately, waste management is not valued in most of the global south countries, and Brazil is one of them. You will usually find people just leaving the trash outside, without any division of recyclable or organic materials. But we are trying to change this way of life.
Only few people understand the relationship between bees and agriculture. The Brazilian coffee producer in general does not usually consort other activities with coffee. Things usually make no sense when not explained.
Obtaining an environmental certification consists of developing practices that provide better protection and care for the environment, the people involved in the processes and also the product with which one works.
That’s also an important matter. The bigger part of our waste is during the cupping, the coffee ground leftovers were thrown away. Now, in a partnership with BioCicle, a company situated at São Lourenço, we built two composters at the backside of our office.
